ABOUT THE PROGRAM
According to the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities, "learning disabilities" is a "general term that refers to a heterogeneous group of disorders manifested by significant difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning, or mathematical abilities." A learning disability is presumably due to central nervous system dysfunction, and is not primarily due to other handicapping conditions, environmental, or cultural influences. It is not a form of mental retardation, or an emotional disorder.

Services available to LD students:
remedial math, remedial English, remedial reading, note-taking services, oral tests, readers, tutors, tape recorders, learning center

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Students with disabilities are held to the same academic standards as any other student at the college. They must meet the same admissions standards and follow the same admissions procedure. People with disabilities are allowed accommodations based on appropriate documentation, intake, history, and academic environment. Support services are provided on an individual basis.
