Utah Valley State requires the ACT exam for placement into various Math and English classes at the college. No one is denied admission based on their specific ACT scores. We accept everyone who wants to come to our campus. If a student has not taken the ACT by the time he or she applies to our school, we offer the ACT-Residual on a weekly basis, which can be taken in the Testing Services office. It is scored on site, so placement results can be put to immediate use. If a student scores under 19 in the areas of Reading, Writing, or Math, additional placement testing may be needed from the Testing Services office.
Students over the age of 21 bypass the ACT requirement. Instead, they are given the Compass placement exam, also administered in the Testing Services office.
Transfer/concurrent enrollment students with over 15 hours of course work from another school should check with a UVSC advisor regarding ACT/Compass requirements. |
