ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A freshman is defined as a first-time college student or one who has completed a maximum of 26 semester hours of college credit.  A transfer student will be considered for admission on the basis of high school records, performance at other colleges, seriousness of purpose, and recommendations.

Admission:

1.  Submit a Mount Olive College application form and an application fee of $20.00.  The fee is not refundable and not applicable to tuition or fees.

2.  Submit official high school transcript or equivalent (GED examination, State High School Equivalency Certificate, or certified document stating evidence of graduation).  Although an applicant is usually accepted for admission during the senior year of high school, a final official high school transcript must be submitted following high school graduation.

A high school transcript is not required if:

·        The freshmen applicant is visiting and/or non-degree-seeking

·        The student has completed at least 24 semester hours of transferable college credit from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting body for higher education at the time that the course work was completed.

·        A graduate of a home school program will be considered for admission if all standards required by the applicant's State Department of Education or Public Instruction have been met.  Appropriate documentation will be required.

3.      Submit official transcript of all college work and/or DD Form 214, DD Form 295, or DD From 2586 if applicable.

4.      Eligibility to return to that institution, if planning to be a resident student at Mount Olive College.  The form is available from the Mount Olive College Admissions Office.  A transcript showing eligibility to return to the last institution attended may substitute for the Dean's Evaluation Form, at the discretion of the Admissions Office.  Interviews and special clarification may be required.

5.      Submit SAT or ACT scores.  Unless 21 years or older or if an applicant has 27 hours of transferable credit, a degree-seeking applicant must take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT) and have scores sent directly to the College.  Test scores included on the high school transcript, however, will be considered official.

6.      Attend an interview/information meeting if requested by the Admissions Office.

International Applicants:

International Applicants must submit, in addition to an application and certified English translated transcript, official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).  A minimum TOEFL score of 500 meeting (paper) or 173 (computer) is required.  A student whose native language is not English may be approved for admission if sufficient evidence of English abilities (other than TOEFL) is presented.  Any international student wishing to play NCAA athletics must submit official SAT scores.
